The island is divided into four small villages and most of the locals take fishery as their main means of livelihood. They consider fishing-boats as second homes where their daily lives take place right on.

In the early morning, there are various species of fresh seafood in fish-market. There is large quantity of shrimp and squid here so that their prices are lower than beef's. And two of the Phu Quy's specialities are holothurian and king crab.
